Aloe vera is an important plant to keep in your home. When the pain in my stomach is paralyzing I scrape the gel from the aloe leaf and eat it raw. It's bitter as hell but when you're in severe pain, taste won't matter! You can also mix it with juice or tea. . .and of course its great for your skin.

I have dealt with chronic pain throughout my digestive system for most of my life and I am very passionate when it comes to finding holistic remedies. By the time I was 16 years old my organs started to shut down and I was throwing up blood almost everyday. After I went to the hospital and was monitored like a science project, they discovered that I had 36 bleeding ulcers covering my esophagus, stomach, intestines, duodenum, a hole in my liver, my stomach lining was eaten away by extreme stomach acid, gastritis, and my immune system was shot. My body started to deteriorate from the inside out due to a lifetime of being overmedicated with antibiotics and steroids for my extreme asthma and weak immune system. So what did they do? They gave me a bag size full of prescription and over the counter drugs to "treat the symptoms" and recommended a high carb diet to "soak up the acid", causing me to gain 30 pounds that summer, having to enter my senior year of high school overweight. It wasn't until I moved out of my mother's house at the end of that year and met the legendary Mr. David Glamamore who indirectly saved my life by telling me to ditch the meds and start drinking tea. From that moment on I began studying holistic medicine and was able to stabilize my body for the first time in my whole life. My point is, if the medication your physician has you on is negatively effecting your body in any way and they are trying to "treat your symptoms" with harmful chemicals it might be time to consult your doctor and find alternative healing. Keeping your body alkaline and your digestive system healthy is important for preventing cancer, your skin, your sleep and your immune system. If you're like me and have a spinal issues, and scar tissue in my organs consult with you're chiropractor, you're digestive issues might be linked! And, if you're someone who parties, you need to stock up on a few things to counteract all that fun. Always consult with your doctor when trying out new remedies, even holistic ones.

This tea has an amazing combination of anti-inflammatory roots. I make a big batch of it every few days and keep it chilled in my fridge with Chlorophyll tincture and lemon. I mostly drink this tea for pain management and to help my allergies but it makes your skin gorgeous too.

I swear by honey being a miracle worker. When I was in the hospital I smuggled in honey and packed my wounds with it which saved me from infection and prevented scarring. I had to experiment with a few different kinds before I found one my skin liked. I ended up responding better to the local honey from my friend's farm. Remember how precious bees are! make sure you get your honey from responsible and safe beekeepers. For my face, I apply spots of honey over stubborn blemishes at night before bed and if I'm home during the day I'll leave it on around the house.

After my accident last year my hair started to fall out really bad from the trauma and my friend Jay suggested this hair mask which worked wonders! One egg, half an avocado, a tablespoon of coconut oil and 1/4 cup of olive oil. Massage mixture from your scalp to your ends and leave on for 30 min to an hour. Wash and condition after and repeat hair mask once a week until hair improves. Also be conscious of increasing your protein intake.

I love garlic. You can rub it over blemishes to kill the bacteria and decrease inflammation. Garlic is also a cure for ear infections and swimmer's ear. Just cut the tip off and gently place the garlic clove in your ear and leave it overnight. If your ear is in a lot of pain throughout the day, leave a clove in your ear and change out in the afternoon for a fresh one. I was grossed out at first but it relieves so much pain its worth it.

Indian Healing Clay is incredible. When I turned 27 I got acne for the first time in my life and had no clue where to begin. I suggest using this mask 2-3 days a week with apple cider vinegar until skin improves. You can also leave spots of the mask on blemishes over night. make sure you follow up with a nutrient rich moisturizer.

Zinc has many different health benefits. You can buy zinc in SPF form and dilute it will coconut oil for a reef safe sunscreen, I highly suggest for people with acne. Zinc also boosts your immune system, fights cancer, helps with your digestive system, helps control diabetes, reduces stress levels, boosts your metabolism and increases the healing rate of acne and wounds. You can get zinc in tincture or vitamin form for easy consumption.

Keeping ourselves well is a full time job. Traveling, stress, overworking, lack of sleep, trauma, unhealthy diets, and pollution all take a toll on our immune system.    Below are some of my favorite ways to boost my immune system, combining a few options is most effective but not always necessary, but make sure you always consult with your doctor, especially if you are taking other medications or have allergies. Consistency is KEY! If the tincture says say 3x a day they mean it!!!!!!

Burdock Root and clover purify your bloodstream and stimulate your immune system which in turn fights of disease and promotes healthy skin! Also good for acne!

This supplement protects the body from free radical damage, environmental stresses, and pollutants.

"Kyo-Dophilus supplies essential friendly bacteria for the intestinal tract and liver function. Fights candida infection, often associated with HIV" - Prescription for Nutritional Healing

Alfalfa can be easily consumed in tea or vitamin form, dry alfalfa is just as effective, and for some, more beneficial. Alfalfa is high in vitamin A, D, E, K, and rich in chlorophyll and helps produce red blood cells, increases your blood-oxygen levels, removes toxins in your body and boosts your immune system. Recommended to take 2,000 to 3,000 milligrams a day and also lowers your cholesterol.

Vitamin C! Be conscious to increase your vitamin C intake during high stress weeks and flu and cold season. Peppers, oranges, kale, broccoli, guava, kiwi, berries, citrus fruits, cooked tomatoes, peas and papaya are all high in vitamins.

St. John's Wort ashwagandha root scutellaria lateriflora prickly ash bark. Check with doctor, as St. Johns Wort interferes with some medications.

Wild Pansy cough syrup or tea can help fight the common cold, relieve upper respritory congestion, strengthen capillary walls. For tea pour 2 cups of hot water and steep 2 teaspoons of wild pansy for 10 minutes. Drink 2 - 3 times a day after a healthy meal. For cough syrup, add 1 1/2 tablespoons of tea, 3/4 cup of water and 1 1/2 tablespoons of raw honey (best if organic or locally sourced), take 1 tablespoon 3x daily, can take regularly for 8 weeks.

Milk Thistle is a necessity for those who like to party and eat bad food! It’s all about balance, and milk thistle stimulates the production of new liver cells, strengthening one of your most important body filters, make sure to also drink lots of water!

Trans Health and Hormone Regulation

In honor of the beautiful two spirit souls in my life, I wanted to provide some answers to questions I am often asked.

Did you know that hormone replacement therapy drugs and oral contraceptive eat away at the vitamins in your body?

***Be sure to increase your vitamin intake, specifically:

B-2, B-6, B-12, C, D, Folic Acid, Magnesium and Zinc

*find vitamins that are as natural as possible, I recommend Standard Process

Drenamin supports adrenal function and helps maintain a healthy emotional balance. EXTREMELY effective for adrenal hormone regulation, helps combat fatigue and mood swings, and has antioxidant properties.

Catalyn contains a complete and complex nutritional formula that helps to bridge gaps in your diet and encourages healthy cell functioning.

Lact-Enz is a combination of digestive enzymes and probiotics that help boost your immune system and supports healthy digestion and gastrointestinal flora.

***Allow yourself to be present with your body, and aware of flushing out toxins to prevent intestinal yeast, polluted kidneys, and vitamin depletion. I recommend sticking to a Candida diet, what you consume will effect your transition. Go on regular cleanses, drink lots of water all day, support your vessel for growth and change. See above for advice on digestive health.***
